Towards the development of a hydRogen valley demonstratIng applications in an intEgRated EcoSystem in Greece

TRIĒRĒS is Greece’s first Hydrogen Valley brings together business, knowledge and regional interests. The TRIĒRĒS Valley starts as a small scale Valley but has a tremendous upward perspective over a large part of the Balkans, South-Eastern Europe and the wider area of Eastern Mediterranean. The Valley will be built around the nucleus of MOH’s Corinth Refinery complex. From a business perspective the project has strong transeuropean interest as 80% of the refinery sales are generated outside of Greece, rendering it internationally oriented by default.

Next REnewable multi-GENeration technology enabled by TWO-phase fluids machines

REGEN-BY-2 will research, design, construct and experiment a first-of-its-kind lab-scale prototype of a recent near-worldwide patented thermodynamic cycle and related plant for the conversion of thermal sources in energy vectors, i.e. electric, heating and-or cooling powers. The start-up TIFEO, which was founded in 2018 by the team leading this proposal and is the exclusive licensee of the patent driving REGEN-BY-2, is a potential European Unicorn. REGEN-BY-2 can convert (from small to large-scale) any typology of renewable thermal source from low to high-temperature (e.g.

HYdrogen as a FLEXible energy storage for a fully renewable European POWER system

Generating renewable electricity is an important way to reduce CO2 emissions and tackle climate change. However, sources of renewable energy such as wind and solar suffer from supply and demand imbalances. Energy storage in the form of hydrogen could provide a remedy for this problem: excess renewable electricity is fed into an electrolyser to split water into oxygen and hydrogen. The green hydrogen is stored and subsequently used in gas turbines to produce electricity when needed, releasing the stored energy back to the grid.

REAL CONSUMER ENGAGEMENT THROUGH A NEW USER-CENTRIC ECOSYSTEM DEVELOPMENT FOR END-USERS’ASSETS IN A MULTI-MARKET SCENARIO

The energy market is rapidly transforming and so is the role of the consumer. Yesterday’s passive consumers are central actors in today’s energy markets. As new prosumers, energy markets can benefit from their generation, consumption and storage capabilities. The EU-funded REDREAM project will enable the effective participation of the consumers and prosumers in the energy market. It will develop a strategy for the creation of a value generation chain based on a revolutionary service-dominant logic paradigm in which service is exchanged for service.

Solar-Biomass Reversible energy system for covering a large share of energy needs in buildings

The project will develop a flexible energy system suitable for building integration based on renewables for covering a large share of energy demand (heating/cooling/electricity). The overall objective is to develop a configuration based on renewables that allows covering all heating and cooling demand and a variable electricity demand (from zero up to even 100%) in a cost-effective manner. This configuration is based on solar, ambient and bioenergy, while it is suitable for various buildings types and sizes without any geographical restriction.
